Add Eclipse to Linux Mint Cinnamon menu

When you download the latest Eclipse version and install it on Linux Mint no menu entry is added. You have to manually add the menu item. Here is a short guide how to add the Eclipse menu entry for Cinnamon:

  • Right click Menu
  • Left click Configure
  • Choose Open the menu editor
  • Left click Programming
  • Choose New Item
  • Enter the name (e.g. Eclipse Mars)
  • Left click Browse
  • Navigate to your Eclipse location and pick eclipse starter
  • Click on the icon on the left of Name and Command to choose the start menu icon
  • Navigate to your Eclipse location and pick icon.xpm
  • Click OK to add the item
  • Close the Main Menu Interface
